Jovita. Her son has been missing since 1973, when he was unlawfully and arbitrarily detained by the Mexican army. During the 70's and 80's she took part in most of the major demonstrations and hunger strikes for the missing. She claims she was never afraid of the perpetrators of such crimes. Irene Cabañas. In 1974, she was detained and disappeared along with her sister and other members of her family. She was taken to a clandestine prison in downtown Mexico City, where she was tortured, abused and released months later, after the assassination of Lucio Cabañas. Mexico City.

Bartola. Her town, El Salto Chiquito, was destroyed by the Mexican army in 1972; her brother, a barber, was unlawfully and arbitrarily arrested by soldiers in 1973. He has been missing ever since. Atoyac, Gro.

José's bed. He's been missing since 2018. Despite her age, Minita, José's 74-year-old mother, is still looking for her son. She says her biggest fear is dying without seeing her son again. Investigations do not point to any particular reason for José's disappearance. Puebla, Pue.

Cecilia. In 2020, her son went out of their neighborhood to look for a job in Diamante, an upper-class part of Acapulco. That day he didn't return and has been missing ever since. Acapulco, Gro.
